A word to black folk... Yes, black men have been falsely accused of sexually assaulting and raping white women... and have paid a huge cost, some their lives.

But please, that is not the situation with Russell Simmons or John Conyers... Russell Simmons answers to a Board of Directors... he sold his company, he subjected himself to board members who are privy to more information that us and they made the determination that Russell step down, not the women involved. Russell was given the benefit of the doubt. After the first allegation HBO not only stood with him, but announced they would feature "Russell Simmons Def Comedy Jam" despite the allegation. If Russell did nothing what is he apologizing for? And don't give me the 'white man' made him... he apologized for his behavior day one, weeks before he stepped down. If LaVar Ball can stand up to President Trump, you mean to tell me Russell Simmons can't defend himself against false allegations? You can't have it both ways.

As for John Conyers... its sad he will go down as a disgraced civil rights icon, but again he's another one who got every single benefit of the doubt from his collegues... Pelosi and the Congressional Black Caucus backed him, until he could no longer hide behind a confidentiality agreement.

When MJ and Bill Cosby struggled with allegations, the same black folks who are caping for Uncle Rush and John Conyers threw them under the bus, despite both actually going to trial and being found not guilty.

My post isn't about whether you believe Russell Simmons or John Conyers is guilty... or even MJ or Bill Cosby... is about our collective failure to address these issues within our own community and police our own not to mention supporting black women who come forward, the stories were there... trust and believe white women who are coming forward were not their first victims. Black women were.

When we drop the ball we allow those outside our community to control the narrative, play judge and jury in a court of law... and a court of public opinion.
