Alpha Kappa Alpha: Image vs Impact—Let’s Be Honest

As a child and young adult, I respected what fraternities and sororities stood for—service, leadership, and community.

But as I got older, I started seeing something different. It began to feel more like a status symbol than a real commitment to the people. The image started to outweigh the impact.

Now I’m looking at what’s happening in the city—violence, instability, people struggling—and I have to ask… where is the real community work?

Organizations like Alpha Kappa Alpha say they’re rooted in service. That’s the foundation. But if the community doesn’t see or feel that impact, then something isn’t lining up.

And when people speak up, they shouldn’t be dismissed—they should be heard.

I’m not saying this to tear anything down. I’m saying it because accountability matters.

At the end of the day, it’s not about titles, colors, or status—it’s about real impact.

So yes—I plan on showing up and speaking on it publicly.

Because if the conversation won’t happen behind closed doors, it’s going to happen in the open.

Make it make sense
