Open the back door of a house in any Black neighborhood in 1974 and count what those hands already know. The woman at the sink is sharpening a knife on the concrete step without looking down.
Almost none of them survived the trip into the next century.
In this video:
✓ The go-cart you built from scrap lumber and old wheels
✓ How one chicken became three days of meals
✓ The backyard plants your grandmother used instead of the doctor
✓ Saturday night shoe polish for Sunday morning church
✓ Reading a room of grown folks without a word
✓ Braiding hair tight enough to last the whole school week
✓ Fixing leaks and flat tires without calling anybody
✓ Wrapping leftovers so tight nothing ever dried out
Not one of these thirty skills required a certificate, a classroom, or a dollar that was not already in the house. They required a person standing close enough to show you, someone who had done the thing a thousand times and was willing to let your hands try.
Leave a comment and name the one your hands still remember.
You are holding proof that somebody loved you enough to show you how, one quiet lesson at a time.
