Are Black people still voting? Yes. Then what are we really talking about?
In this episode of Unshakable with April Chapman, I break down why this Tennessee redistricting fight is not about Black people losing the right to vote. It is about Democrats losing control of a protected political district they treated like their own ideological property.
For decades, Democrats have used race-based political language to keep Black voters packed into districts where they are taken for granted, offered more low-income housing, more dependency, more government programs, and more racial grievance — but rarely serious solutions like literacy, infrastructure, home ownership, trades, family restoration, small business growth, or safer communities.
This new map may actually give Black voters more leverage — not less — because both parties may now have to compete for their vote.
Is this voter suppression?
