Ben Crump has moved on from Ocean Springs, Mississippi, and attached himself to another emotionally explosive case—this time in Madison, Wisconsin.
Corey Durell Ruiz was fatally shot after Madison police responded to reports involving attempted theft and possible unlawful entry. Police say Ruiz fled, violently resisted four officers, produced a fixed-blade knife, injured an officer and continued fighting after an unsuccessful Taser deployment.
The independent investigation is still underway. But Ben Crump has already called the shooting an “execution,” demanded that the officer be criminally charged and warned that there will be “no peace and business as usual” in Madison until authorities produce the outcome he demands.
