MC Lyte Gets REAL About Rock Hall, New Tour, Legacy & Why Fans Are Her “Walk Of Fame”

Hip-Hop pioneer MC Lyte sits down with AllHipHop’s Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur ahead of her historic Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction and her 12-city Road To The Hall of Fame Tour.
Lyte explains why this run is much more than another concert tour. The intimate shows will take fans through her catalog while mixing performance, storytelling, conversation and memories from the cities that helped build her career.
But the conversation gets much deeper.

MC Lyte opens up about losing her mother after audiences prayed with her during her previous tour, why nostalgia can actually be healing and inspiring, and what it means to receive one of music’s biggest honors after decades in Hip-Hop.

She also reveals that Chuck D approached her about the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame years before she ever imagined herself being inducted.

And despite all the accolades, Lyte says the recognition that matters most still comes directly from the people:

“When people show up, to me, that’s my Walk of Fame.”

Lyte also talks Queen Latifah, Wu-Tang Clan, New Edition, Mariah Carey, going “back in the crates” for her upcoming shows and why the Road To The Hall of Fame represents both a celebration of her history and another chapter in her journey.
