Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is facing mounting scrutiny as a federal investigation into alleged immigration fraud, a possible sham marriage, and questions surrounding her real identity continues to intensify. After casting her ballot in Minnesota, Omar appeared to dodge reporters’ questions about whether the investigation could threaten her U.S. citizenship, defiantly insisting she would continue voting. According to the New York Post, federal agents raided Omar’s Washington, D.C., residence on October 12, seizing her cellphone while issuing grand jury subpoenas to several family members. Adding to the controversy, a federal court filing identifies the Minnesota congresswoman as “Ilhan Nur Said Elmi,” raising fresh questions about her identity and her former marriage to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, whom she has long been accused, without substantiated proof, of being her brother. Investigators are reportedly examining potential discrepancies in Omar’s immigration paperwork, her father’s records, and allegations that false information may have been used to obtain U.S. citizenship. Despite the growing federal scrutiny, Omar continues to deny all wrongdoing, accusing President Donald Trump and his administration of politically motivated persecution, while no criminal charges have been announced.
