During our visit to Little Village, Danielle Carter-Walters—2027 Chicago mayoral candidate and Vice President of Chicago Flips Red—was approached during a public interaction where photos and videos were taken.
Later, we received requests from a museum official and a parent asking that a photo of minors be removed from our social media because they did not consent to their images being used in a political or campaign-related post.
We respected those requests and removed the photo.
But this raises a larger question about consistency.
Public figures are photographed and recorded every day, often without being asked. While we believe parents have every right to protect their children’s privacy, should there also be respect for candidates and public figures who are engaging with the community?
